New York to prevent independent environmental detection
A far-reaching bill before the City Council would make it illegal to possess a biological, chemical or radiological detector without government permission. If we ever need to know if the air is safe to breathe (remember ground zero) or radiation has been released, important technology that is legal today will be out of the hands of private citizens
